Infrastructure Build-Out

Unban Municipal Broadband

  • Texas state laws bar municipalities from offering certain types of telecommunications services to the public, either directly or through a private telecom company. The state law includes provisions for communities without any private telecom companies currently offering broadband service to residents. Texas municipal broadband is largely regulated by Utilities Code, § 54.201, which was originally enacted in September of 1997.
  • However, a few cities in the state have been able to get around these rules. Mont Belvieu, for instance, began building out a fiber network in 2016 to offer broadband services to residents. The local district court decided that the city of Mont Belvieu had the authority to offer Internet service to residents because the Internet does not fall under the state’s definition of a telecommunication service.
  • In 2019, Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law legislation enabling electric cooperatives to offer broadband services to customers, but the state still actively discourages and bars them from doing so in many circumstances.

Connect the Texas triangle with High-Speed Rail

Fort Worth needs a better Regional rail network. Build up TRE and TexRail to be like Dart.

  • Build out local public transit throughout the state to decongest our roads
  • Public Transit Expansion: Efficient public transit is key to reducing the cost of living and increasing economic productivity. We will invest in robust transit systems to reduce car dependency and noise pollution in our major cities.
  • Texas High-Speed Rail: Connecting the “Texas Triangle” with high-speed rail is a generational opportunity to supercharge our economy and modernize our transportation.

Free Solar Installation

We will implement a universal power plan that provides free solar installations to homes and communities, ensuring nearly free power for decades once installed

Everyone deserves access to cheap, reliable electricity without having to navigate confusing rules and red tape

  • We must deliver energy solutions that strengthen our grid, provide stable energy prices, and significantly lower household expenses.
  • Cost-Neutral Investments: By investing heavily in modern energy infrastructure, the state will recoup its costs over time through energy savings, making this transition cost-neutral or even profitable for taxpayers.
